Observing International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Clementine Gauthier - 12.02.2022

On December 3, Teleperformance stands strong with the world in observing International Day of Persons with Disabilities. As an equal opportunity employer for all, we solidify our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring no one is left behind – including persons with disabilities.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities was proclaimed by the United Nations in 1992. It aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities. Celebrated annually, this year’s theme is “Transformative Solutions of Inclusive Development.”

Changing Lives and Leaving No One Behind

Teleperformance understands the many challenges that are faced by persons with disabilities. According to the World Bank, persons with disabilities are more likely to experience lower levels of employment.

Because of our workplace culture that welcomes all, no one is left behind. In 2021, Teleperformance hired more than 7,000 persons with disabilities. We also strengthen our inclusion initiatives through fruitful partnerships that empower persons with disabilities. In 2021, we signed Unidos por el Proposito, a program that will offer training and job opportunities to 8,000 young people. Partnering with Nestle in Mexico, the program’s objectives focused on integrating persons with disabilities into the workforce, and also achieving gender balance. To date, Teleperformance has hired 63 persons with disabilities through the program.

In the United Kingdom, Teleperformance is proud to be recognized as a Disability Confident Committed Employer. The government-initiated Disability Confident program recognizes employers and companies that are increasing understanding of disability, changing and challenging attitudes on disability, erasing barriers and borders that limit persons with disabilities, and offering equal opportunities for people with disabilities. As a Disability Confident Committed Employer, we are committed to:

  • Ensuring that recruitment processes are inclusive and accessible
  • Communicating and promoting vacancies to all
  • Supporting existing employees who acquire disabilities or long-term health condition, enabling them to stay at work
  • Offering interviews to persons with disabilities who meet the minimum criteria of a job posting

This recognition drives all of us – as one, global Teleperformance team – to reach higher in promoting and offering equal opportunities in the workplace.

Every day, we envision a world brought together by equality and inclusion. To us, it’s about belonging and acceptance, and offering life-changing opportunities for people with disabilities to embrace a brighter future.

On December 3, we remain united in observing International Day of Persons with Disabilities. May we all be vessels of change – on this day, and every day – that can impact people’s lives for the better.
