Paving the Path to a Better Tomorrow: Observing Global Goals Week 2024
At TP, we believe in the power of collective action to drive meaningful change. As a proud supporter of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we are excited to observe Global Goals Week from September 20 to September 29, 2024. This week represents a shared commitment among more than 150 partners across civil society, business, academia, and the UN system to accelerate actions on the SDGs, especially during the UN’s General Assembly High-Level Week.
Our Commitment to Sustainable Development
TP has long been committed to corporate social responsibility initiatives that align with the SDGs. As a member of the UN Global Compact since 2011, we stand united with the UN to envision a better world for all. Our efforts focus on promoting human rights, eliminating discrimination, and fostering inclusive economic growth, particularly in developing countries where we employ a significant portion of our workforce.
During Global Goals Week 2024, TP will concentrate on several key areas that reflect our ongoing dedication to the SDGs:
- Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8): We continue to strengthen our commitment to prioritize providing decent jobs and fair compensation. We partner with organizations to help lift communities and promote inclusive economic growth.
- Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10): Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is strong. We promote gender equality, integration of people with disabilities, professional equality for the LGBTQIA+ community, and fairness at all levels. By doing so, we support diverse talent and foster an inclusive workplace.
- Quality Education (SDG 4): We continue to provide career and career growth opportunities to young people and in disadvantaged groups, including those embarking on their first professional experience.
At TP, we strive to make a positive impact on the communities we serve. This commitment to social responsibility drives us to engage in initiatives that promote education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability, ensuring we contribute to a better and fairer world for future generations.
Through our impact sourcing program, we continue to create job opportunities for individuals from underserved communities, providing them with the tools and training needed to succeed in a global workforce. In 2023[1], 96,500 people were hired for their very first professional experience. We also hired 6.500 persons with disabilities.
Supported by the TENT Partnership for Refugees, TP continues to offer opportunities and recruit refugees in different countries including Colombia, where TP employs nearly 2,000 Venezuelan refugees. We have also committed to hiring 500 refugees within our European operations by 2025. In Egypt, TP employs refugees fleeing conflicts in Syria, Iraq, and several African countries.
To continue reinforcing our commitment to sustainability, TP has adopted greenhouse gas emission reduction targets approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and has also joined the Climate Pledge, a coalition of over 400 companies committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040.
TP Women, our initiative that is dedicated to celebrating and empowering women, has been instrumental in driving workplace equality and women empowerment for the last five years. In India, TP Women’s “GenderSmart” initiative has equipped women with the knowledge and mindset required to thrive as leaders in their respective fields. It is tailored to train women on different aspects of leadership, as well as address the challenges and needs of women in leadership roles.
Collaboration is at the center of Global Goals Week, and we are keen on making it our mission to initiate several activities designed to raise awareness and drive action on the SDGs. As we approach Global Goals Week 2024, let’s make a better and fairer world for all and contribute to a more sustainable and equitable world.
