The United Nations' Global Compact (UNGC) consists of ten Principles that guide companies and corporations towards best workplace practices. Focused on four areas, each principle is designed to allow businesses to embrace the greater good, and employ ethical strategies and solutions. The principles are also centered on promoting equality in the workplace, environmental responsibility, social responsibility, and fair business practices.

The Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative of the United Nations to align businesses with human rights, labor, environmental, and anti-corruption principles. It is a commitment that ensures markets, commerce, technology, and finance advance to benefit economies and societies worldwide.

To help us embrace and adhere to the universal principles of the UN Global Compact, we formally launched our Global Corporate Social Responsibility Committee (“Global CSR Committee” or “Committee”). This Committee is responsible for creating and overseeing the worldwide Group CSR strategy efforts, including developing the necessary policies, and ensuring compliance.
Principle 1: businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Principle 3: business should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labor; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respectof employment and occupation.
Principle 7: businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater enviromental responsibility;and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Principle 10: businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
