As part of Teleperformance’s commitment to make the world a better place for all, we remain passionate about practicing sustainability in our daily lives. We continue to drive change, practice care, and spread environmental awareness through our Citizen of the Planet (COTP) program, with each COTP activity inspiring our employees to promote a lifestyle that encourages reduced energy, water, and paper consumption. Our efforts strengthen over time: our carbon footprint per employee in 2020 decreased to 0.495 in 2020 from 0.682 in 2019. We also saw a 16% reduction in electricity consumption per employee in 2020, when compared to 2019. We believe that these efforts go a long way in making a positive impact on our environment.
As a global leader, Teleperformance is committed to paving a better future not just for our employees and our partners, but also for the world we live in. We have become early advocates for preventing climate change and have adopted key measures that can spark action in protecting our environment. Teleperformance was one of the first 100 signatories to join the Climate Pledge—a drive for businesses, companies, individuals, and organizations to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. More recently, our goals to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and minimize climate change have been set even further—Teleperformance has stepped up its own climate objectives by committing to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
According to a press release, Teleperformance “has committed to reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 49 percent per FTE by 2026 from a 2019 base year, and pledges to reduce scope 3 carbon emissions from its purchased goods and services, and employee commuting 38.3 percent per FTE by 2026 from a 2019 base year.” The targets covering greenhouse gas emissions from Teleperformance’s operations (scope 1 and 2) are consistent with reductions required to keep warming to well below 2°C—what the latest climate science has stated is needed to prevent the most damaging effects of climate change.
Through this commitment, Teleperformance strives to promote action that can prepare us for a carbon-constrained world, as well as prevent the worst impact of climate change while leading to substantial business benefits. This further clarifies our vision of a better environment and a healthier world for all.
