Teleperformance for UNICEF: 2023 Achievements

Teleperformance - 04.17.2024

In 2022, we launched a partnership with UNICEF with the aim to improve access to education and provide humanitarian relief around the world. As we reach the two-year mark of our collaboration, we are pleased to share the achievements of our partnership.

Last year[1], with the support of Teleperformance, UNICEF reached approximately 85,000[2] children with education and humanitarian support through the following programs: education programs in the Philippines, Humanitarian Action for Children on the move in Latin America and the Caribbean, Humanitarian Action for Children in Nigeria, emergency response in Sudan, and earthquake emergency response in Syria and Türkiye.

Philippines

Funding from Teleperformance allowed UNICEF’s Country Office in the Philippines to contribute to the overall goal of increasing access and helping address the development and learning loss brought about by the pandemic among children aged 3 to 5, especially disadvantaged children. It also resulted in building the capacity of child development workers, kindergarten teachers, parents/caregivers in priority local government units (LGUs) and elementary schools while strengthening local governance and management.

In 2023, a total of 14,820 beneficiaries (3- to 4-year-old children, consisting of 7,338 boys and 7,482 girls) were served by child development workers through Teleperformance’s support.

Humanitarian Action for Children on the move in Latin America and the Caribbean

Facing complex emergencies such as migration, violence, civil unrest, and climate change, 16.6 million people (which includes 5.4 million children) in Latin America and the Caribbean required humanitarian assistance.

To support affected children and families, UNICEF offered access to education, health and nutrition services, gender-based violence prevention programs, and social protection services across ten countries. Thanks to the support of Teleperformance and other partners, UNICEF has reached over 237,000 children with education opportunities, 60,000 children and caregivers with psychosocial support, 29,000 children and women with primary health care, 37,000 people with WASH supplies and services, and 87,000 people with critical information.

Through Teleperformance’s contribution, UNICEF supported 3,460 people.*

Humanitarian Action for Children in Nigeria

Fuel prices tripled in Nigeria when the fuel subsidy was removed in June 2023. As a chain reaction, food prices skyrocketed as transport costs increased. In July, the country’s President declared a state of emergency over food prices and shortage.

In addition, over 9 million people (which includes over 5 million children) are still in need of humanitarian assistance after devastating floods affected the country in 2022.

Teleperformance’s contributions enabled UNICEF to support around 4,688 people* through an integrated rapid response mechanism.

Emergency response in Sudan

With over 3 million children fleeing the war, Sudan has the largest child displacement crisis in the world. According to UNICEF’s report, 24,700,000 people (which includes 13,600,000 children) needed humanitarian assistance.

In 2023, 45,783 people* in the health sector – specifically women and children – received support from UNICEF, thanks to Teleperformance’s contribution.

Earthquake emergency response in Syria and Türkiye

More than 8.8 million people (which includes 3.3 million children) were affected by the earthquakes in Syria. As part of the response, UNICEF provided services to 5.6 million people, including 3.2 million children.

In Turkey, UNICEF and its partners reached 4.7 million people, including 2.4 million children, with vital support following the earthquakes and by the end of 2023.

It is estimated that Teleperformance’s contribution enabled UNICEF to support around 12,628 people* in the health sector.

This is in addition to the other emergencies supported in 2022, notably in the Philippines following Typhoon Odette, or in Ukraine in the context of the war. In total, since the beginning of the partnership, more than 455,000* people have received vital aid thanks to Teleperformance's support.

Teleperformance remains committed to helping build a better world by supporting UNICEF’s programs to provide humanitarian relief and education for the most vulnerable children. Read how Teleperformance is supporting UNICEF by clicking

*The funding provided by Teleperformance was allocated to UNICEF’s thematic funds (education or emergency). Flexible funding gives UNICEF the capacity to provide support where the need is greatest. Consolidated reports are prepared every year, and available to all donors after June. As those funds are supported by a variety of donors, it is not possible to attribute specific results to a specific donor or partner, the estimated numbers provided here are only based on an estimated prorating.
